The poems in this books dart like strange fish in a reflecting pool, appearing, submerging, following ideas where they drift, then skipping to another, enfolding and unfolding. A spiritual quest through the global culture revealed by the internet, from the vistas of Kathmandu.

Sudeep Adhikari was born in Nepal in 1981. He grew up in Kathmandu and developed a strong sense of awe towards art, philosophy, and science from his early age. During his late teen, he felt a deep connection to American Beat Culture and oriental philosophies, particularly Zen Buddhism, Taoism, Vedanta, and Madhyamika. He finished his degree in Civil Engineering in 2004 and obtained a post-graduate diploma in Buddhist Studies in 2006. At the same time, he was profoundly influenced by the philosophy and poetry of Sri Aurobindo, an Indian mystic, and a poet.

He went to the United States in 2008 for his Masters in structural engineering. When America was fighting with a tumultuous economic recession, Sudeep was struggling with his own demons, which started finding their shape in form of poetry at an accelerated pace. He finished his PhD in Structural Engineering in 2013 from University of Akron, Akron, Ohio and came back to Nepal in 2014.

rapture of zero

that ancient sound;
the language of
insatiate rivers lust
and those rapturous
lightening mad.
the unspeakable mute

of countless roses-
untouched and unkissed
breathes the reverberating oneness
of supreme nothing
with all the rest.
……………………
rapture and rupture.
